The vessel is a 38’ vessel of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) construction, built by Ledford Marine in 1974. The wheelhouse with flybridge sits forward and the main deck with fish hold hatch coaming extending aft to the transom. It has a raked stem, rounded chine and transom stern. The rigging is configured for crabbing, seining and gillnetting.
The general layout is of a split-level design with two steps each separating the wheelhouse or flybridge from the main deck. On the foredeck is an anchor roller and hydraulic anchor winch. Below is a single berth foc’sle, aft the wheelhouse with steering helm to starboard, aft an oil range and galley sink. To port is a convertible dinette, aft an enclosed head area. On aft wheelhouse bulkhead is a DC panel and engine alarm and gauge panel. Below is a removable panel arrangement to provide access to the forward part of the engine. A removable hatch in the sole provides access to the batteries, hydraulic pump and circulating pump. Aft up two steps through a hinged door is the main deck.
A 5” aluminum pipe mast directly behind the house, to starboard a hinged hydraulically actuated crab davit with hauler, to port a ladder leading to the flybridge, to port a heavy duty stanchion.
Up two steps to the flybridge, an aluminum storage box on centerline, a steering helm, with engine controls and electronics, storage beneath the helm, Lexan visor. Mast forestays anchor in forward corners of flybridge.
Aft in the deck, (2) oval BAIER hatches provide access to the aft engine compartment. Aft a hatch coaming with aluminum cover accesses the fish hold. Aft is a hatch coaming accesses the bait hold on centerline; aft, a flush hatch to the lazarette; aft, the transom stern.
Bulwarks are FRP hull extensions capped with UHMW surround. Aft third of sides and stern bulwarks have been cut away and replaced with aluminum. A stainless steel skiff guard is installedand integrated into the aluminum stern bulwarks. 1 ½” aluminum pipe railing surrounds from the stbd side davit around the stern to the port side stanchion.
Heavy duty seine style booms extend from the mast.
