GENERAL VESSEL DESCRIPTION and LAYOUT:
The F/V is a single engine diesel vessel w/ molded fiberglass hull a raked stem, vee bottom w/ full keel, rounded chine’s w/ tunnel for shallow water seining w/ square stern. The cabin is forward w/ pilothouse, open self-bailing aft work deck w/ fish hold and lazaret aft. Three transverse bulkheads into four below deck compartments divide the vessel. This is a typical purse seiner; at the bow first is the anchor roller, anchor, mooring cleats, and hydraulic anchor winch mounted to the fore deck. The walkways lead aft port and starboard to the main deck w/ ¾” galvanized pipe safety handrails mounted to the pilothouse sides. A welded aluminum ladder from port aft of the cabin accesses the pilothouse aft deck. To the starboard behind pilothouse is the RSW unit covered w/ aluminum shroud and an AC chest freezer in fiberglass box w/ wood lid. The pilothouse is entered through an aluminum water tight door w/ window port side aft pilothouse. The pilothouse contains to the starboard a pilot seat w/ jog steering control, hydraulic steering centerline w/ engine controls, electrical panel, various electronics and compass. The aft bulkhead to the starboard of entry has a day bunk w/ storage underneath. Pilothouse has an aluminum water tight entry door w/ window, rubber framed front and aluminum framed opening side and rear windows.
The cabin is entered by a wood door w/ window from starboard aft cabin bulkhead taking three steps down. To port of entry amidships is Formica counter top w/ double stainless sink, cupboards and counter space. Next to the port is a Dickinson Adriatic diesel oil range w/ oven; fuel supplied from main tank via DC 12-volt pulse pump. Next forward is a cabinet w/ raised counter top above and a refrigerator recessed underneath. Next forward is the galley table w/ fore / aft seating for four w/ storage under bench seats. To the starboard of entry is an enclosed marine head w/ marine toilet and cabinet w/ sink. Next forward is a day bunk w/ storage underneath. Next forward to the starboard is the cabin helm w/ hydraulic steering, engine controls, instruments, gauges and various electronics. Amidships forward an open companionway accesses the forepeak/ bunk area taking one step down and contains two tiered bunks port and starboard sides w/ storage under the bottom bunks. Hatches in cabin sole access first the battery compartment then next aft is access to the forward engine room that houses the main engine, transmission, hydraulics, filters, hydraulic reservoir, pumps, bilge pumps and bilge high water alarm. The vessel interior is finished w/ a vinyl sole, ceiling, Formica/ wood cabinets, bulkheads and doors w/ wood trim. Wood framed 3/8” Lexan windows, fastened w/ stainless screws.
Aft of the cabin is the self-bailing aft work deck w/ raised fiberglass bulwarks encompassing the stern w/ capped w/ UHMW. Center amidships against the aft cabin bulkhead is the mast w/ main boom and two picking booms, exhaust shroud w/ muffler, engine room vents and port and starboard sides are the aluminum pipe vanging stanchions. Next aft is a double headed hydraulic pursing winch w/ pursing sheave mounted centerline to the self-bailing aft deck. Next aft is the fish hold w/ 85” x 85” opening w/ 8” raised hatch coaming covered w/ four 21” x 85” aluminum hatch covers. The hold is sectioned off into three compartments fore / aft w/ bin boards; the fish hold has a bilge pump in a sump w/ cover and a watertight access hatches to the shaft alley. Next aft is the self-baling seine net deck. Next aft centerline stern is an aluminum watertight flush deck hatch accessing the lazaret. The lazarette contains the fuel tanks, steering gear, rudder quadrant/ shaft seal and DC 12-volt bilge pump.
