Duties: Must be able to work without a cell phone in one hand. No drugs or alcohol on the boat. Get out of bed when called. Know how to wash dishes and understand English. Standard crewmen duties, prepare for fisheries, wheel watch if needed, cook sometimes, cleanup at the end of season.
Pay: Is based on a percentage of the catch after fuel and bait is taken off. Bonuses are paid on performance and completion of the fishing season. Food is split.
Notes: It is not cheap to fly into Sand Point. Up front the cost of license, boots and raingear can be arranged. I like a cloth sleeping bag or blankets. The F/V Glacier Spirit is a 47-foot Sunford and this is a first class operation with Starlink high speed internet on board. I do this to make money, safely. I have been a captain since 1983 and have a good reputation and track record. This is a great opportunity and stepping stone for someone looking to learn how to commercial fish.
