Description:
F/V is a welded aluminum vessel constructed in 1988 by Knight Enterprises in Bellingham, Washington. The vessel is a commercial fishing vessel of house aft Design constructed with a raked bow, transom stern, hard chines, open deck forward, and fish hold amidships.
The layout of this vessel is as follows:
On the bow is the power roller and fairleads. Aft of the stem is the forward weather deck area used for picking fish. Bulwarks measure 47” tall. A helm station is located to port in this area. The lazaret is accessed via a 24”x24” Baywood hatch in the forward portion of the deck. In the aft portion of this deck area is the 57” wide net reel. A hatch below the net reel provides access to the forward fish hold. Currently the hold is used for storage. A 36” step up on either side of the net reel provides access to the deck area over the amidships fish hold. This hold is one large space with no integral segregation. Fish segregation is via brailer bags tied tothe hold’s overhead. The approximate carrying capacity of the fish hold is estimated at 28,000 lbs. Holds are accessed via two hatch covers on the centerline of the hold. There are no bulwarks in this area and safety rail made of a length of poly line provide hand holds port and starboard. Behind the fish holds is a 36” step down into a well area. Aft of this is the main cabin. Entry is through a centered door on the forward cabin bulkhead measuring 70” tall by 24” wide. Inside the cabin to starboard is a settee, with storage provided underneath. To port is the main helm station with electronics and engine controls. Aft of the main helm is the galley area, which contains a propane range, sink, and counter space. In the aft portion of the cabin is berthing with an enclosed head located on the port side. Access to the engine compartment is via removable flooring in the cabin sole.
The F/V is in good condition. The hull condition is in good order with some minor surface scratches observed. All hull penetrations are tight and in good condition. Visual inspection showed the bottom plate, side shell plate, and support framing to be in good condition. Machinery spaces were found to be in overhaul status. engine work was ongoing during the survey. Since last survey the outdrive units and marine gear units have been removed and replaced with Konrad 600 series outdrives. New doubler plates have been welded in a workmanship like manner to accommodate the new outdrives. Bilges were clean and dry. The engines were not started nor ran as a part of the survey. Statements regarding the viability and condition of the main engine are outside the expertise of this surveyor and a certified diesel mechanic should be employed if information regarding the engine’s operational condition is desired. The main cabin interior is trimmed out and finished with carpet and teak on the bulkheads and the cabin sole, all in good condition. Wear and tear of these components are commensurate with the vessel’s age and annual usage. Inspection of safety items was not completed during this survey. The vessel has a USCG issued Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Examination decal, which expired in August of 2020. Of note, the vessel was examined for waters under 3nm. The fishery this vessel participates in extends beyond 3nm from shore and inspection should include requirements for up to 12nm. It is recommended that prior to vessel launch, ensure all required safety equipment is onboard and in a serviceable condition. Furthermore, it is recommended that the vessel undergo a USCG dockside exam that satisfies the requirements for fishing vessel regulations up to 12nm from shore, as vessel participates in a fishery that extends beyond 3nm.
