GENERAL VESSEL DESCRIPTION:
The Fishing Vessel is an Alaskan bow picker with a forward working deck, fish hold center amidships and aft cabin. Its hull is red below the waterline with a white house with light blue trim and black UHMW rail at shear. The hull is molded fiberglass and is a planing design with a raked stem, semi-V bottom and square transom. The vessel has dual propeller propulsion with outdrives. The cabin is constructed of ½” foam core with fiberglass overlay and a removeable roof hatch for potential engine removal.
The deck is painted fiberglass and is self-draining with the removal of dual screw caps on each side. The gunwales are of decent width and have brushed aluminum cleats. There is a roller at the bow, storage beneath and on each side, a steering console on the port side, and a pacer pump just aft. The gillnet reel is on the starboard side with swinging level wind. The foredeck has a large freeman hatch housing a bilge pump and an auxiliary fuel tank, just forward and below the net reel. The fish holds are just aft and consist of three fiberglass holds with watertight aluminum lids. The center hold is smaller than the two outboard ones and they are all interconnected at the bottoms for the self-draining scuppers at each side.
The cabin door is aluminum, the primary helm is on the port side with a custom helm chair with all helm controls and storage beneath and aft. Further aft of the helm chair is a sizeable marine head with flushing toilet and raingear storage. On the port side is the Dickinson stove/oven combo and aft of that is the galley sink with molded shelving storage. There is a bench seat with a small dinette aft. The aft of the cabin space is comprised of two bunk beds running athwartships. The lower one can be removed to easily access the engine space.
The engine room features an engine on each side, centerline bilge pump and bronze sea strainers. The starboard main is attached to the belt driven hydraulic pump for the fishing roller forward. The hydraulic tank is on the port side. Centerline, moving forward from the engine space is more removeable flooring, next compartment has the batteries and water pumps.
The flooring is all mixed fiberglass/cardboard honeycombed ¼” material that is very light and strong. The interior flooring, when in place, is all non-skid coating.
The roof has a throw ring on the port side, a large solar panel nearly flush with roof amidship. The exhaust stack for the Dickinson is on the starboard side with a kayak and paddle just aft. The gunwale caps are wide, and vessel has excellent stainless hand holds around the exterior of the house to the transom and aft, a small diamond plated swim step. The vessel also has a waterline level lifeline around the vessel which runs through a custom hole in the bow for added safety.
