VESSEL PARTICULARS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is used primarily for salmon drift gillnetting. The hull is of molded fiberglass construction and is a planning design with a curved stem, hard chine, semi-V bottom and square transom. The cabin and decks are constructed of ½” plywood with fiberglass overlay. The vessel layout is cabin aft, fish hold amidships, and self-bailing recessed deck forward.
Entry into the cabin is through a hinged aluminum door on center of forward cabin bulkhead. The cabin layout from forward to aft is as follows: to port is the helmsman station with electronic array and refrigerator under helmsman chair, then Caribbean stove with stowage under, then counter space with inset sink with stowage under and circuit break panel overhead. To starboard is the dinette with double facing bench seat, then upright dry storage compartment containing the Antarctic stove. Athwartships at aft end are two stacked berths, by raising the bottom berth allows for access into the engine compartment.
The engine compartment contains the engines to port and starboard of centerline near transom, hydraulic pumps one off the front of each engine, hydraulic tank to port forward, fuel filters, and bilge pump on automatic float switch; all is well arranged. Forward of the bottom berth and inset into the cabin sole is a hatch for access under the cabin sole. Under the cabin sole the fuel tanks for engines are secured (one to port & one to starboard), fresh water tank, fresh water pump, and vessel batteries; all is well arranged. Located on the outboard sides on the cabin are: custom aluminum mast & plywood hatch with fiberglass overlay atop, propane bottles to starboard at forward cabin bulkhead, and aluminum stove oil tank to port on forward cabin bulkhead.
Forward of the cabin is a fish hold covered by three aluminum plate hatches, access into the fish hold is by raising the hatch covers. The fish hold is compartmentalized into three sections by removable corrugated bin boards. Found in the fish hold are three slush bags, and a sump pump on automatic float switch; the approximate total fish hold carrying capacity is 3,500 lbs. of salmon.
Forward of the fish hold is a self-bailing recessed deck that contains the gillnet reel near center, longline drum to starboard of gillnet reel, anchor drum starboard of longline drum, and Pacer pump starboard of anchor drum. Forward of the gillnet reel is an oval aluminum Freeman deck hatch near center for access below deck. Below deck a Pacer pump, sump pump on automatic float switch, and through hull with ball valve are found. Found above deck forward and to port of the gillnet reel is a helmsman station. Secured to the bow is a hydraulic bow roller.
Secured on the transom is an aluminum swim step, out drive units to port and starboard of centerline, and trim tabs with single plastic ram on each.
The vessel appears to be both sound and watertight in its hull, decks, and cabin; it appears suited for its intended service.
