Description
This is a well-built fiberglass vessel constructed in 1979 by Ledford Marine Construction, Inc. in Marysville, Washington. The vessel is a commercial purse sein fishing vessel of house forward design constructed with a raked bow, transom stern, rounded chines, and tunnel style hull.
The layout follows:
On the bow is a hydraulic anchor winch, 20kg. Bruce style anchor, and rode. In the forecastle is berthing. Aft of the fo’c’sle area is the main cabin area. To port is a helm station with steering, engine controls, electronics, and instrumentation. Aft of the helm is galley area with sink, counter, refrigerator, and storage cabinets. To starboard is a settee and enclosed head. The cabin’s interior is finished in vinyl, wood, and joinery panels. All ventilation is natural. A wooden door on the starboard side of the aft cabin bulkhead gives access between the cabin and the weather deck. The deck area has bulwarks that are a combination of fiberglass and welded aluminum. Bulwarks are 18” tall for the deck area aft of the cabin. The fish holds are located below deck immediately aft of the cabin. Fish hold hatch opening measures 84” by 84”. The holds are divided into three sections by corrugated aluminum longitudinal bin boards. The after part of the engine and marine gear can be accessed through a hatch in the forward bulkhead of the center fish hold. Atop the main cabin is the flying bridge with a steering and control station. The power pack for the RSW unit is also mounted in this area. The mast and hydraulic valves that operate the booms, etc. are mounted on the after cabin bulkhead.
Surveyor’s Notes
The F/V was found to be in good condition at time of survey. The hull was found in good condition. There are several areas where abrasion or other impact has caused damage to extend into the fiberglass matting. A 5” area on the bottom of the keel should be closely monitored to check for delamination. A puncture near the starboard gunwale has a partial splash zone epoxy patch. Numerous layers of matting are visible. An area of abrasion on the starboard quarter measuring 7” long by 12” high extends through the gel coat, but not beyond the outer layer of fiberglass matting. The vessel is over 40 years old so it is not unusual to have scrapes and dings. The areas mentioned above are identified as areas to watch and repair as necessary. Running gear was also found to be in good condition. The shoe is comprised of unpainted mild steel and some pitting is present. The propeller was free from fouling, but evidence of barnacles in the past remains. Through hull fittings are tight and sealed well.
Interior cabin spaces were found to be generally in good condition. The RSW system is a retrofitted item and the unit is found under one of the counter tops in the galley adjacent to the engine compartment, which is not typical.
Machinery spaces were all neat and clean. The main engine appeared to be in good condition. Coatings on the engines are in excellent condition. Bilge spaces were found to be neat and clean. The engines and other machinery were not started nor ran as a part of the survey. Statements regarding the viability and condition of the main engine are outside the expertise of this surveyor and a certified diesel mechanic should be employed if information regarding the engine’s operational condition is desired.
Some safety items were inspected at the time of survey. The vessel was found not to have an EPIRB at time of survey. The owner has subsequently purchased the unit listed on page 2 of this report. It is recommended that prior to getting underway that this unit be properly installed and registered.
Price: $110,000
