The fishing vessel, is of bowpicker configuration and is used primarily for commercial salmon drift gillnetting on Alaska’s Copper River Delta. The hull, decks, bulkheads and cabin are constructed of 5086 marine grade aluminum. The hull is a planing design with a curved stem, hard chine, semi-v bottom and square transom.
The cabin is located aft with a watertight aluminum door centered on the forward cabin bulkhead. The cabin contains the helmsman station, electronics, counter space and stowage to port; to starboard is counter-space, stowage, sink and an oil stove. Two berths are located at the aft end of the cabin over the engine compartment in a bunk bed configuration.
Forward of the cabin is a large fish hold covered with two watertight aluminum hatches. The fish hold is set up to carry four Nomar brailer bags.
Forward of the fish hold is a self-bailing recessed well deck containing the second helmsman station, gillnet drum with level wind, and anchor gear. A hydraulic-driven 2” Pacer pump for net-wash is mounted to the starboard side of the gillnet reel. The bow is fitted with an aluminum gillnet bow roller.
The vessel is in good condition and appears to be both sound and watertight in her hull, decks and cabin. In March 2008, the vessel underwent extensive upgrades on her deck at a cost of approximately $13,000.00 (thirteen thousand dollars). The work was done by Peterson Welding and Machine of Cordova, Alaska. All the deck machinery was removed and the aluminum well deck was cut out, the foam under the well deck was removed, new aluminum stringers, braces and beams were inserted and the deck was replaced with the salvageable old aluminum decking where possible and with new marine grade aluminum. A watertight inspection hatch was installed and the deck machinery was then reattached.
