U.S. Coast Guard "Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Examination" inspection sticker expires in January of 2014.
This is a well-built, aluminum vessel with an overall length of forty-feet, built in Bellingham, Washington by Knight Enterprises. The hull design is a raked bow with transom stern with the deck.house aft of amidships.
The F/V is configured as a bowpicker with the cabin located aft and the working deck forward. On the bow is the hydraulically driven power roller. Proceeding aft one encounters the hydraulically powered gillnet reel. Controls for the reel and power roller are forward and operated by a foot pedal therefore freeing both hands for working with the net and picking fish. A steering station with engine controls is located on the port side forward of the reel. Under the reel is a storage compartment that could be used for fish storage. Aft of the reel ls the main, insulated fish hold. This hold is fitted with a 7-ton RSW system. This hold is not divided internally, but two 4'x4' hatches provide access to the hold. Aft of the fish hold is a well deck between the main cabin and the RSW fish hold. In this space is a 24"x24" weather tight hatch that provides access to the RSW system. The main cabin is entered through a center doorway on the forward bulkhead. To port is the steering station, captain's chair, and electronics with all controls and instruments within easy reach. Under the chair is a cabinetry for storage. Aft of main helm station is a small counter and a diesel fuel oil stove used for heating and cooking.
This is a built and spacious aluminum vessel, which exhibits results of a good maintenance program. The cabin and galley are neat and show no signs of misuse. The engine and other mechanical equipment have received continued attention during the vessel's lifetime. With the continuation of a maintenance program, the F/V should provide many more years of service in the fishing industry.
