GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is used for salmon drift gillnetting and longlining. The hull is of molded fiberglass construction and is a planning design with a raked stem, hard chine, semi-V bottom and square transom with cabin aft and fish hold amidships and self-bailing recessed deck forward.
The cabin is accessed by a hinged aluminum door on center of forward cabin bulkhead. The cabin layout from forward to aft is as follows: To starboard the dinette table with facing bench seat and stowage & Red Dot cabin heater under, then L-shaped counterspace with two burner propane range & sink inset atop and pull drawers under. To port is the cabin helmsman station with electronic array with pull drawer and refrigerator under, then enclosed head with marine toilet, then diesel cabin heater. Located athwartships at aft end of cabin are two stacked berths. Raising the lower berth or an inset floor hatch on center forward of the bottom berth inset in the cabin sole provides access into the engine room. An second inset floor hatch on center is found forward of the one for access into the engine room to provide access to the top of the fuel tank.
The engine room contains the propulsion engines (one to port, one to starboard of centerline) coupled to waterjets, the primary fuel tank forward, AUXILARY ENGINE NO. 1 forward of port propulsion engine, hydraulic tank, fresh water tank, fuel filters, through hulls with ball valves for toilet, vessels batteries, fresh water pump, and bilge pump; all are well arranged.
Found secured on outboard sides of cabin are a propane bottle, diesel auxiliary tank, and hand rail on the aft end, and a custom aluminum light stand and molded fiberglass hatch cover atop. Forward of the cabin is a fish hold divided into three sections by two longitudinal bulkheads (one to port, one to starboard of centerline), and the outboard sections of the fish hold are divided into two compartments by a transverse partition found in each. The fish hold has five compartments and is sealed by six aluminum diamond plate hatch covers; the approximate fish hold capacity is 9,500 lbs. of salmon; located in the center fish hold near aft end is a sump pump. Forward of the fish hold is a recessed self-bailing deck.
The self-bailing deck contains the gillnet reel near center, davit with longline hauler to port of gillnet reel, a second helmsman station to port and forward of gillnet reel, and an aluminum circular Freeman deck hatch for access below deck. Below deck a Pacer pump, through hull with ball valve, and sump pump are found.
Secured to the bow is a hydraulic bow roller, and secured to the outboard side on transom are the waterjet nozzles with high thrust reverse buckets, trim tab plates with dual stainless steel rams, and aluminum pipe waterjet guard.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The vessel has an extensive history of repairs, modifications, and upgrades; the most recent include:
2019 – new fish hold configuration with Honeycomb ½” structural fiberglass board with fiberglass overlay, six aluminum diamond plate fish hold hatch covers, new GPS, new hydraulic system, and new davit with longline puller; estimated cost $30,000.00 (thirty thousand dollars).
2020 – rebuilt hydraulic bow roller, new propulsion engines, new fresh water system, new 12 volt D.C. batteries, new battery lead wires, new battery isolator switches, and rebuilt waterjets; estimated cost $30,000.00 (thirty thousand dollars).
The vessel appears well kept for its age and pride of ownership is apparent; as well as sound and watertight in its hull, decks, and cabin; it appears suited for its intended service.
