GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is used primarily for drift gillnetting. The hull is of molded fiberglass construction and a planning design with a curved stern, gull wing (inverted) chine for added lift, semi-V bottom, square transom, cabin aft and flush decks forward of cabin.
The cabin is accessed through a watertight hinged aluminum door centered on the forward cabin bulkhead, and is well arranged. To port is a helmsman station with molded fiberglass console with electronic array and storage under helmsman chair, then counter space with refrigerator & pull drawer under, then sink with cabinetry doors under. To starboard forward is the galley table with double facing bench seat with storage under, then two burner propane range with oven & pull drawer under, then counter space with pull drawers under, then enclosed head with marine toilet with manual hand pump & holding tank and small vanity sink. Two stacked berths are located athwartships at the aft end of the cabin. Atop of the cabin is molded fiberglass hatch fitted to a raised combing to help facilitate the removal of the propulsion engines, if needed. Also, found atop of the cabin is an aluminum antenna arch pipe stand for antennas. The engine compartment is located under the cabin sole and is spacious and well arranged. Access into the engine room is by either raising a hatch inset into the cabin sole or by raising the lower berth. The engine compartment contains the propulsion engines, jet units, batteries, fuel tank, secondary fuel filters, fresh water tank with 12V pump, bilge pumps, hydraulic pump, electric deck hose pump, inverter, and hydraulic tank. Forward of the cabin is a large flushed deck fish hold covered by six molded fiberglass hatches fitted to raised combings. The fish hold is compartmented into six sections by two honeycomb fiberglass board longitudinal bulkheads and one honeycomb fiberglass board transverse bulkhead (bulkhead is aft of forward fish hold bulkhead and forward of cabin bulkhead); each fish hold is setup with a brailer bag for slush ice and a sump pump. The combined fish hold total carrying capacity is approximately 9,000 lbs. of salmon. Forward of the fish hold extending the width of the deck is a “jellyfish” sump with aluminum grating; forward of the “jellyfish” sump is the work deck.
The work deck layout is as follows: found near center is the gillnet reel with manual aluminum levelwind, to port of the gillnet reel and forward is the forward helmsman station (a steel LPG bottle can be found inside the forward helmsman station console), to port of gillnet reel and aft of the forward helmsman station is an oval aluminum Freeman deck hatch for access below deck. Below deck a Pacer pump with plastic housing for supplying water to the bow wash, a Rule 3700 GPH pump on automatic float switch, and through hull with ball valve are found. The bow is fitted with a hydraulic bow roller with two aluminum fairleads. Secured to the transom is an aluminum jet guard, trim tabs with dual hydraulic rams on each trim tab, and waterjet nozzles with high thrust reverse buckets.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
To be considered this vessel is laid up with vinyl ester resin which is more expensive than the more common polyester resin due to its added durability and strength. The above captioned vessel at time of vessel inspection appears to be both sound and watertight in its hull, decks and cabin and well suited for its intended service.
