GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is used primarily for salmon drift gillnetting. The hull is of molded fiberglass construction and is a planning design with a curved stem, hard chine, semi-V bottom and square transom. The cabin is located aft and is constructed of molded fiberglass and insulated with ½” balsa-core with carpet on the inside walls, cabin sole and cabin overhead. Entry to the cabin is through a Sea Glaze watertight, hinged aluminum door with two dawgs, centered on the forward cabin bulkhead. To starboard of centerline forward is the cabin helmsman station with electronic array with stowage doors under, then an enclosed head with marine toilet. To port of centerline and forward is the dinette with facing bench seat with a refrigerator and Red Dot cabin heater under, then a single stainless steel deep sink, and then a triple burner propane stove with oven. One large berth is located athwartship at the back of the cabin over the engine compartment. A watertight hatch fitted to raised combing in the cabin overhead provides access for the removal of the main propulsion engine.
The engine room is located beneath the berth and contains one gasoline marine propulsion engine coupled to a Hamilton Jet model 241 by direct drive, ship’s batteries, and one hydraulic pump. A single aluminum fuel tank is found secured and grounded forward under the cabin sole. Forward of the cabin is a large fish hold divided into three compartments by aluminum bin boards. The fish hold is reported to have a carrying capacity of approximately 4,000 lbs. of salmon. The fish hold is covered by one large fiberglass hatch fitted to a raised combing.
Forward of the fish hold is a recessed self-bailing well deck containing the gillnet reel with aluminum level wind, anchor box, and Honda auxiliary engine with hydraulic pump. Below deck is a 2” hydraulic-driven Pacer pump for net wash with access through a Freeman aluminum deck hatch. Forward of the gillnet reel is a second helmsman station on the starboard rail. An aluminum live gillnet roller with two fairleads is secured to the bow.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The vessel appears to be both sound and watertight in her hull, decks and cabin and is well suited for her intended service. Approximately $60,000 was spent on the vessel prior to the 2012 fishing season. The deck, bulkheads forward of the cabin bulkhead, and fish hold were replaced. Replaced the forward helmsman station consoled
Replaced the cabin roof and various components of the cabin interior. Extended the transom to accommodate the new Hamilton Model 241 water jet. Installed a new Hamilton model 241 water jet. Install a new propulsion engine (Kodiak Marine Vortec 496). Re-gelcoated the entire vessel. Installed a Webber Marine hydraulic-driven power roller on bow.
