GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is used for salmon drift gillnetting. The hull is of molded fiberglass and is a planning design with a curved stem, hard chine, semi-V bottom, and square transom. The cabin is located aft and is constructed of balsa wood with fiberglass overlay. Access into the cabin is through hinged water tight aluminum door centered on the forward cabin bulkhead. To port of centerline is the helmsman station with electronic array with storage & fresh water tank under foot rest and refrigerator under helmsman seat, then sink with storage cabinet under. To starboard of centerline is a table with facing bench seat and pull drawers under bench seat, then oil-fired stove with stowage cubby under. Located athwartships at aft end are two stacked berths with stowage compartments located port, starboard, and at aft end. Found on the cabin overhead is a single molded fiberglass hatch fitted to raised combings to help facilitate the removal of the engine, if needed. By raising the bottom berth grants access to the engine room. Found in the engine room is the propulsion engine on centerline which is coupled to an outdrive unit that is secured to the outboard side on the transom. Also, found in the engine room are two 4-D batteries, hydraulic pump for the deck machinery, Jabsco wash down pump, hydraulic tank, fuel filters, and bilge pump; all are well arranged and secured. Found secured on the outboard side on the front of the cabin is an aluminum stove oil tank & deck hose to starboard. Forward of the cabin is the fish hold; found in the fish hold at aft end is a 100-gallon welded aluminum fuel tank. The fish hold is also set up with two slush bags; the fish hold has a capacity of approximately 5,000 lbs. of salmon in slush ice. Forward of the fish hold is a self-bailing deck containing the gillnet reel on center, a gasoline powered washdown pump to starboard of gillnet reel (wash down pump not on board at time of vessel inspection, removed for off season storage), an anchor box to starboard and forward of the gillnet reel, a forward helmsman station to port and forward of the gillnet drum, and secured to the bow is a live aluminum roller with two aluminum live roller fair leads. Secured to the outboard side on the transom is an aluminum platform above the outdrive unit, and to port and starboard of the outdrive unit are trim tabs with an electric plastic ram on each.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The vessel appears to be both sound and watertight in the hull, decks and cabin; and suited for its intended service. The vessel has a USCG Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Exam (decal number: 273910 / expires: October 2020).
