General Description:
The vessel is a 38ft. bow picker constructed of all aluminum by a recognized top-quality builder of this type of vessel throughout the area. It displays standard construction techniques in keeping with marine practices used for the construction of vessels of this type and class, rigged as a commercial drift gillnetter. It is configured with a raked stem, flat transom, welded aluminum.
Aft is the engine compartment containing a hydraulic reservoir, two diesel propulsion engines mounted to 1/0s, driving belt driven hydraulic pumps mounted to the front of the engines, supplying power to the deck equipment and flow master pump. Forward of cabin, fuel tanks under deck, then (8) fish holds on a flush deck. Forward on bow is a hydraulic net roller, next forward is a control station at stbd gunnel, next aft is a hydraulic gill net reel on a sliding system with level wind above the flush fish hold hatches.
The cabin is located aft and is trunked into the hull. Forward to stbd is the interior helm station with engine instruments and controls forward, electrical panels under helm seat, electronics mounted to ceiling above helm. Behind helm is a diesel Dickson stove. Aft is a full bunk over the engine room. Forward port side of cabin is a four-person mess table that makes into a full bunk.
Vessel Condition:
The vessel has been used for fishing salmon and hearing in California, Washington and Alaska since new as the commercial drift gill net boat. The current owner and original owner had the vessel built in 1981. The owner replaced both engines and 1/0s in 2013.
Engine visually looks in above average condition for age, no sign of any corrosion. Outdrive looks normal for age, little sign of corrosion. Boat spends most of the year blocked. Engine and I/Os upgrades — incorporated into the vessel that has a long- standing reputation of being a solid, well-built unit — have gone away to making this vessel a more than adequate vessel for commercial gillnetting in California, Washington or Alaska.
Both hull and cabin appear in above average condition with the normal amount of wear and tear for a vessel of this age and service. The machinery is properly installed and reported fully operational at the time of survey. Electrical systems are adequately wired, labeled and protected from overload. Maintenance and housekeeping throughout the vessel are adequate with allowances made for final outfitting to be completed. The vessel is properly rigged for intended services and is more than adequate for that service.
As far as may be ascertained from a general examination of this vessel, without inspection of normally inaccessible areas, without removing any fastenings, without taking borings to ascertain thicknesses, prevention or tightness of structure and members, without opening or trying all machinery, without going aloft and with no determination of intact stability or inherent structural integrity, it is in the opinion of the undersigned that the hull, machinery, and equipment of this vessel are in satisfactory condition for operation and may be insured without undue risk or hazard when compared to similar vessels in like service with exception as noted.
