GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a bowpicker configuration and is a planing design with a curved stem, hard chine, semi-V bottom and square transom. The cabin is located aft and is constructed of ½” foam-core with fiberglass overlay. The cabin is entered through a hinged aluminum door centered on the forward cabin bulkhead. The interior is laid out as follows: to port forward is a helmsman station and electronic array and stowage under the helmsman seat, then enclosed head with marine toilet and vanity; to starboard forward a galley table with forward facing bench seat, then counter-space with sink and stowage under. Two stacked berths are found athwartship at the back of the cabin and over the engine compartment. Found in the cabin overhead is a fiberglass hatch fitted to raised combings for removal of the propulsion engines, if needed.
Access into the engine compartment is by raising the lower berth. The engine compartment contains propulsion engines, water jets, hydraulic tank, hydraulic pump, bilge pump, raw sea water strainers, and auxiliary fuel filters; all are well arranged. The fuel tanks and water tank are located under the cabin sole forward of the engine compartment.
Forward of the cabin is a large fish hold covered by two molded fiberglass hatches fitted to raised fiberglass combings. The fish hold is designed to carry three large slush bags with brailer bags; the approximate carrying capacity is 4,000 lbs. of salmon.
Forward of the fish hold is a recessed self-bailing well deck containing the second helmsman station, gillnet reel with manual level wind, and hydraulic Pacer pump with plastic housing. The bow is fitted with an aluminum gillnet roller. Secured to the transom are the water jet nozzles, 2” aluminum pipe guard, and stainless steel exhaust tips with exhaust flappers.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The owner has done extensive work to the vessel since 2012. Work has consisted of extending the transom out 3-feet in order to convert the vessel from an inboard/outboard to water jet propulsion. Since, the start of the transformation the owner added new propulsion machinery, a 2” aluminum pipe jet guard, stainless steel exhaust pipes with flappers, Hamilton HJ 213 water jet units with stomp grates and cleanout extension risers, Groco raw water strainers, aluminum stabilizer fins, an enclosed head with marine toilet with manual hand pump and vanity, a Espar Airitronic D2 diesel cabin heater, a Jabsco Par Max 4 pump for deck wash, a Pacer 2” hydraulic pump with plastic housing, and replacement of various electronics. The overall cost to the owner since the start of the vessel modification in 2012 is estimated to be $60,000.00. The vessel appears to be both sound and watertight in its hull, decks and cabin; and suited for its in intended service.
