VESSEL DESCRIPTION
The F/V is a displacement monohull with a plumb bow, rounded chine, full keel weighted with concrete, and rounded stern. Forward is the cabin and top house with wrap-around decks, work deck aft, and fish hold under the work deck. Forward on bow is anchor and anchor windlass. The aluminum bulwark averages 24” high with scuppers cut into bulwark for deck drainage. The work deck is of a typical Prince William Sound seiner configuration with deck capstan, main mast, main boom, two picking booms, power block and hydraulic winches to orchestrate the operations of seine fishing. All ship hydraulics are running off two Vickers hydraulic pumps, driven off the main engine’s PTO.
Under deck, the vessel is supported and divided by four bulkheads. Most forward is the forepeak that is accessed through fo’c’sle. Next aft is fo’c’sle, that is accessed through cabin and has bunked V-berths that sleep four. Next aft is the engine room that is accessed through forward, starboard cabin sole, houses the main engine, auxiliary generator, RSW system, hydraulic system, and diesel day tank; and drained by two bilge pumps. Next aft is one insulated fiberglass fish hold; estimated capacity of 50,000 lbs., plumbed for RSW, and covered by 22” x 22” diamond plate aluminum hatch fitted to raised combing flush with false deck. Next, the lazarette is accessed by flush deck hatch on aft work deck and houses the two diesel fuel tanks and rudder post.
