VESSEL PARTICULARS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is a purse seiner configuration constructed of molded fiberglass with closed cell foam-core board with fiberglass overlay. The vessel configuration is of a raked stem, hard chine, square transom with rounded corners with cabin forward of amidships with wheelhouse overhead. The main work deck is a self-bailing flush deck from bow to transom, except for the raised fish hold hatch combing aft of amidship. The fish hold is plumbed for RSW and has an estimated capacity of 60,000 lbs. of salmon, and is secured by three insulated aluminum hatch covers. To port and starboard of the raised fish hold hatch combing are oval aluminum deck hatches, and aft of the raised hatch combing near transom is an oval aluminum deck hatch for access into the lazarette.
The lazarette contains propulsion engine fuel tanks to port and starboard, fresh water tank near center, a bilge pump on automatic float switch, and steering gear; all appear well arranged. Forward of the raised fish hold hatch combing on center is the deck winch, and to port and starboard of deck winch secured to inboard side of bulwarks and deck are stainless steel davits. Secured on outboard side of cabin on aft end are the hydraulic valve bank and mast with main boom and picking booms, atop of mast is a custom aluminum platform with fiberglass crow’s nest atop. The main boom is fitted with the power block on gooseneck slider and winches (cargo, trolley, vang, and tip), and the picking booms are fitted with two cargo winches on each, and secured on the mast is a winch for topping main boom. The mast is supported by A-frame aluminum pipe stays. Secured forward of the cabin on deck is the anchor winch with anchor rode and anchor secured to bow. To port and starboard of anchor winch are an egress hatch over fo’c’sle.
Entry into the main cabin is through a hinged aluminum door found to starboard of centerline on aft cabin bulkhead. The main cabin layout from aft to forward is as follows: To starboard aft is an enclosed head with shower, toilet, and wash/dryer. Forward of head is a day bunk with stowage compartments under, then steel ladder staircase for access to wheelhouse. Located in forepeak is the fo’c’sle containing four V-berths. Found inset into main cabin sole is a floor hatch for access into engine room; primary access to the engine room is located at aft end of main cabin through a hinged aluminum door and via aluminum ladder. To port aft in main cabin is the galley, then forward of galley is the dinette table with U-shaped bench seating with stowage under.
The engine room contains the propulsion engines to port and starboard of centerline, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic tank, hot water heater, holding tank with Y-valve, bilge pump on automatic float switch, high water alarm, RSW system components, AUXILIARY ENGINE NO. 1 on centerline forward of propulsion engines, sonar tube, tool chest, vessel batteries, fresh water pump, and fuel filters; all appear well arranged. Reported by owner forward of the engine room incorporated into the forepeak is an additional fresh water tank.
In addition to the steel ladder staircase in main cabin; located on outboard side at aft main cabin bulkhead to port is an stainless steel ladder for access to wheelhouse. Entry into the wheelhouse is through a hinged aluminum door on aft wheelhouse bulkhead to port of centerline. The wheelhouse contains the helmsman station and electronic array forward, and counterspace with stowage under and a berth athwartship at aft end to starboard of wheelhouse door. Found on outboard side of wheelhouse on the weather deck is a chest freezer enclosed in fiberglass box, and aluminum ladder for access to crow’s nest. Secured atop of wheelhouse is a life raft, and atop of the mast an aluminum platform for crow’s nest, antenna’s, and a sodium light and two deck lights.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
Reported by vessel owner the captioned vessel has invoice costs reflecting significant repairs, modifications, and upgrades made to the vessel. For example, between 2013 to 2014 the vessel was taken to Platypus Marine in Port Angeles, WA and had rigging work, cosmetic work, and auxiliary equipment & deck machinery work done that amounted to approximately $410,000.00 (four-hundred ten thousand dollars). Then between 2016 to 2017 the vessel was extensively gone through due to a loss requiring the vessel to be placed on dry dock in Cordova, AK. The following items addressed, but not limited to, included: new propulsion machinery, new generator set, new RSW system, extensive electrical system work, and new fuel lines & filters. The invoice costs for the work done between 2016-2017 amounted to approximately $1,070,000.00 (one-million seventy thousand dollars). The work done in June 2022 consisted of propellers being refurbished, new zins installed below waterline, new bottom paint, new stern hawsehole, reconfigured head, and various cosmetic work on decks and bulwarks at an approximate cost of $8,000.00 (eight-thousand dollars). The vessel appears to have been thoroughly gone through and maintained to appear in a nearly like-new condition.
The vessel appears to be both sound and watertight in her hull, decks, and cabin; it appears suited for its intended service. The vessel displays a current USCG Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Exam (decal number: 274329 / expires: September 2022). It is in the opinion of the undersigned that the vessel has its USCG Commercial Fishing Vessel Safety Exam renewed prior to expiry.
