Vessel Description:
The Fishing Vessel is a ’50 ft. shallow draft Seiner. Designed as a combination vessel intended for a variety of Alaskan fisheries, including Seining, Tendering, and a variety of other Alaskan fisheries. She is of Molded Fiberglas construction, w/Airex foam core from chine to weather deck and a solid FRP bottom built up w/ additional layers of hand-laid FRP.
Her features include a whale-backed configuration, w/ a raked stem, hard chine, full keel, and a stepped deck aft of the single fish hold hatch combing.
Starting at the bow, she has an anchor roller to house the 80 kg claw anchor, followed by an anchor winch, and mooring cleats port & stbd w/ assoc. hawse holes for each. Her pilothouse, atop the whale-back, is just aft of the foredeck, and followed by a small area of deck that incorporates a companionway structure to the main cabin, access to the top of the pilothouse and crow’s nest, and structural A-frame stanchions for the rigging.
Down the ladder to the main deck, you’ll find the base of the deck stepped mainmast, an extensive array of hyd. controls, the entrance to the main cabin and various other controls and tool storage.
Moving aft is the deck winch, w/ assoc. tip-out roller davits, to port & stbd. Continuing aft is the fish hold hatch combing, followed by a slightly raised (~ 6”) poop deck where the seine is stacked. At the after end of this deck is a flush hatch which provides access to the lazarette, which contains refrigeration and auxiliary generator machinery.
Inside the wheelhouse are helm stations to port & stbd., a large console across the fwd part, housing a centrally located steering wheel, electronics array, breaker panels and various switches. Across the after end of the pilothouse is a large day bunk, a stairway leading below, and the door to the upper deck.
Below in the main the cabin is spacious and well laid out galley, living spaces and foc’sle w/ crew quarters. Below the cabin sole, accessed thru several hatches, are spaces containing batteries, thru-hulls & sea cocks, sonar dome apparatus, etc.
Moving aft, accessed by a sound insulated doorway is the main engine room, containing the main engine, circulation pump and plumbing, hyd. machinery etc.
Aft of this is the fish hold and the previously mentioned lazarette.
Notes:
Vessel was “on the hard” at the Cordova City boatyard during inspection. Weather was fair, w/ temps in the lower 60’s. The engine and running gear are reportedly fully operational, the electronics inventory appears very complete. Mechanical equipment, including main and auxiliary propulsion equipment were inspected visually where possible, but were not assessed internally. For detailed mechanical information, a dedicated inspection by a qualified marine mechanic is always recommended.
Electrical systems were inspected visually but were not systematically assessed. For detailed electrical system information, a dedicated inspection by a qualified marine electrician is always recommended. For purposes of valuation, it is assumed that all uninspected equipment and components are in satisfactory operating condition.
