Vessel Description
The fishing vessel is a shallow draft, displacement hull w/ a single screw. Featuring a partial tunnel recess for the propellor shaft and rudder assembly, a raked stem w/ a flared bow, round chines w/ rolling chocks, and a flat transom w/ rounded corners. With Forward house and flush deck, and midships fish hold. Built of molded fiberglass construction.
These boats were designed as a purse seine vessels for Alaska but have been adapted for a large variety of other nearshore Alaskan and west coast fisheries, including Gillnetting, Crabbing Longlining and Tender work.
Her layout is as follows: Starting at the bow she is a welded steel structure for the anchor roller which also serves as the anchor point for the forestay. the hyd. anchor winch drum inline and aft and a steel mooring cleat. She has walkways down both sides of the deckhouse, w/ a handrail attached along the top edge of the deckhouse, and a toe rail along the sheer line, near deck level. The rail continues aft, along the same plane and becomes the bulwarks for the work deck, from the aft end of the cabin to the stern. This work deck, ~ 20’ long, and the width of the boat, contains, starting at the after end of the deckhouse, the mast, which is stepped on deck and has the hyd. controls for deck machinery mounted adjacent. Continuing aft are the deck winch, w/ purse davit stanchions mounted at the rails, port & stbd. Aft of the winch is the main hatch, on a raised combing, and nicely fabricated out of diamond-plate aluminum, w/ a wide slider hatch to facilitate easier loading and unloading of fish.
Aft of the main hatch is an oval Freeman flush hatch for access to the Sunday hold. At the after end of the work deck is another oval Freeman hatch that provides access to the lazarette. 2-fuel tanks, and the steering gear are in the lazarette.
Access to the main cabin is thru a door and down three steps on the aft, stbd side. Galley equipment is laid out along the stbd side of the cabin. On the port side are the booth style galley table, w/ the head compartment aft. There is a day bunk at the after end of the cabin and 4- bunks in the foc’sle at the fwd end of the cabin. There are machinery spaces under the cabin sole, which contain the gen- set, batteries, pumps, plumbing etc.
At the aft end of the cabin, also below decks is the propulsion engine room, containing the John Deere 6081 main engine and refrigeration equipment. Access to the engine room is thru a passage created by removing the entryway steps. There is another hatch to enter the machinery space to port in the head compartment.
The engine and running gear are reportedly fully operational, the electronics inventory appears limited although sufficient for intended purpose.
Mechanical equipment, including main and auxiliary propulsion equipment were inspected visually where possible, but were not assessed internally. For detailed mechanical information, a dedicated inspection by a qualified marine mechanic is always recommended.
Electrical systems were inspected visually but were not systematically assessed. For detailed electrical system information, a dedicated inspection by a qualified marine electrician is always recommended.
