VESSEL DESCRIPTION
The F/V is a modern purse seine vessel found in Alaska with house and top house forward with wrap-around decks, aft work deck, and two fish holds under the work deck. The vessel is a displacement monohull with raked stem, hard chine, v-bottom, full keel and square stern.
Forward on bow is anchor and anchor windlass. The hull sides and bulwarks are protected by two hard plastic rub rails that extend longitudinally. The bulwarks average 16” high with scuppers cut into bulwark for deck drainage. The work deck is of a typical Prince William Sound seiner configuration with deck winch, main mast, main boom, two picking booms, power block and hydraulic winches to orchestrate the operations of seine fishing. All ship’s hydraulics are from two hydraulic pumps, driven off PTO on main engine and transmission.
The vessel is supported and divided by four bulkheads that separate vessel into fo’c’sle, engine room, forward fish hold, aft fish hold or Sunday hold, and lazarette. The fo’c’sle is accessed through cabin and has bunked V-berths that sleep four. The engine room is accessed through cabin sole and houses the main engine, auxiliary generator, RSW system, battery banks, and hydraulics. The forward fish hold has estimated 45,000 lb. capacity and is accessed from three aluminum hatches on work deck, fitted to fiberglass combing raised from work deck. The Sunday hold has estimated 15,000 lb. capacity and is accessed from flush deck Baywood hatch. Both fish holds are insulated and cooled by a 20-ton RSW system. The lazarette is accessed by the Baywood aluminum hatch on aft work deck and houses the two fuel tanks, water tank, and rudder post.
INTERIOR DESCRIPTION
The house is forward the work deck and accessed through an aluminum door in aft, port cabin. Upon entry, down three steps, the galley is positioned starboard aft with refrigerator, Dickinson stove / heater with microwave oven overhead, and an L-shaped Formica-lined counter with recessed sink and storage underneath. Forward galley is settee with Formica-lined fixed table with two facing bench seats. Forward that is countertop and access down to fo’c’sle. To port is day bunk with wood 8-step ladder that provides access to top house. Aft of day bunk is an enclosed head with macerator toilet, shower nozzle, and sink base. The cabin is finished with vinyl headliner, teak paneling and teak trim on walls and cabinetry, vinyl overhead, Formica countertops and linoleum sole.
The aluminum wheelhouse is positioned on top and forward of cabin. It is accessed through cabin and through aluminum companionway from flybridge. Wheelhouse has navigation counter with controls both port and starboard, electronics, electrical panels, autopilot, bucket seat, and safety gear.
