VESSEL DESCRIPTION:
The “skiff” is typical modern purse seine jitney in the Prince William Sound seine fishery. The engine compartment is aft, raised up from the well deck, and accessed by a watertight aluminum hatch. It houses the main engine, waterjet, battery bank, and diesel saddle tanks. Engine compartment is drained by a Rule bilge pump. A helms station is mounted forward, at centerline, that houses controls, electronics, and hydraulic valves. An aluminum towing post is incorporated into the engine room bulkhead. Forward the engine compartment is a self-bailing well deck, with scuppers on port and starboard sides. Under deck is accessed by Baier hatch in port deck, drained by Rule bilge pump, and has plumbing for keel coolers.
