GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The fishing vessel is of a purse seiner configuration and is used primarily in Prince William Sound in South Central Alaska. She has a curved stem, hard chine, full keel, square transom, flush decks, fish hold amidships and cabin with flybridge forward.
The hull, cabin and flybridge are constructed of molded fiberglass. The decks are constructed of plywood with a fiberglass overlay. The foc’s’le contains four V-berths, while the main cabin has a mess table with facing bench seats to port forward, then a storage locker (once used as an enclosed head). To starboard is the galley with sink, counterspace and stowage under. An oil-fired stove with oven is found against the aft cabin bulkhead and a helmsman station is centered on the forward cabin bulkhead.
The engine room is located beneath the cabin sole with access through hatches. The engine room contains a single Detroit Diesel 6V-71.
The fish hold is located amidships and is covered with three fiberglass plywood hatch covers fitted to a raised combing. The fish hold is insulated and is floodable when equipped with a refrigerated seawater system (the RSW system has been removed). The fish hold has a capacity of approximately 38,000 lbs. of salmon. Aft of the fish hold is a lazarette containing four diesel fuel tanks, a stainless steel water tank and vessel’s steering gear.
A steel mast and aluminum booms are centered aft of the cabin and a flybridge is fitted to the cabin top. A hydraulic-driven deck winch, Tyee deck pump and 2” Pacer pump are also located behind the cabin.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The vessel was extensively refurbished between 1979 and 1988 as follows:
1979 – Remodeled and rewired the cabin interior. Repowered with a new 6V-71 Detroit Diesel and aluminum bulwarks were installed.
1980 – Installed three station Hynaultic throttle/clutch system. New aluminum main boom and two aluminum brailing booms were added. Installed two hydraulic Bloom winches.
1982 – Installed two aluminum fuel tanks and new aft deck.
1983 – Insulated fish hold with 3” high-density foam and overlayed with fiberglass. Fish hold was divided into two sections with removable center boards. A 15-ton Anderson hydraulic-driven RSW system was also installed, but is no longer in service.
1988 – Rebuilt the main propulsion engine at a cost of $10,000.
1989 – 2014 – No service record is available!
